To Our Friends of the West Jefferson Ox Roast,
The West Jefferson Ox Roast Trustees have made the decision to cancel the Ox Roast scheduled for September 5, 6 and 7, 2020 due to the unknown of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Since 1951 the Ox Roast has been an important part of West Jefferson.
We have been closely monitoring the evolving pandemic and all the regulations since the beginning, hoping for closure to ensure we could safely continue with our plans for this years Ox Roast. As we see other festivals and fairs and events across the state of Ohio cancelling this year, it was not a decision we were hoping for.
It takes many months of planning to organize the Ox Roast each year that provides a safe environment and a memorable experience for our guest. Not knowing what the regulations will be in September does not make it easy to plan for the Ox Roast, when orders for our meat and wood to burn are made in June.
We are heartbroken that we have to make this difficult decision, but one that we feel is in the best interests for all participants.
We would like to thank our visitors, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, Queens, entertainers, crafters and community for your support. We look forward to putting on hold for a year our plans to celebrate our 70th year of sponsoring The West Jefferson Ox Roast in 2021.

The West Jefferson Ox Roast is sponsored by the West Jefferson Community Association. The members meet the second Thursday of each month in the community room of the Hurt-Battelle Memorial Library with a dinner meeting beginning at 6:30 pm. Guests are welcome to attend. The highlights are the annual steak fry for members and families and the annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party.

- Main Stage Sponsorship is available for $2,500.00. Your Name will be on the stage, on our website, in all publications, and all events on the stage.
- Hospitality Tent Sponsorship is available for $2,000.00. The sponsor’s name will be prominently displayed on the tent, on our website, and on the grounds.
- Ox Roast Sandwich Area Sponsorship is available for $2,000.00. The sponsor’s name will be prominently displayed on the sandwich building, on our website, and on the grounds.
- Pit Area Sponsorship is available for up to $1,000.00. The sponsor’s name will be displayed in the pit area, on our website, and on the grounds. Two (2) sponsorships are needed for the Pit Area.
- Music/Parade Sponsorship is available for $200 - $1,000.00. The sponsor’s name will be displayed on our website and on the grounds. (The sponsor’s name will also be announced during the parade and at all advertising.)
- Kiddee Tractor Pull Sponsorship is available for $500.00. The sponsor’s name will be displayed on our website and on the grounds.
- Roasting the Ox Sponsorships are available for $200.00. The sponsor’s name will be displayed on our website and on the grounds. Ten (10) sponsorships are needed for the Roasting of the Ox.
- Friends of the Ox Roast Sponsorships are available for $50.00 and above. The sponsor’s name will be displayed on the grounds. There are an unlimited number of Friends of the Ox Roast sponsorships available.
